Course Syllabus

The B.Sc.- I.T. programme was initiated in the academic year 2007-2008 as one of the self-financed courses of St Xavier’s College. The programme had produced subject-based merit rankers at the University level in 2012. Under autonomy this programme offers a wide range of subjects across each of the six semesters offering exposure in areas that touch upon mathematical abilities (Applied Mathematics, Discrete Mathematics, Descriptive Statistics, Operations Research, etc.) to Computer Programming like Computer Graphics, The Art of Programming, Java, Net, etc. The programme updates its syllabi regularly and introduces into the curriculum new technologies like Image Processing and Deep Learning, Mobile Application Development, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Cloud Computing, Big Data, etc.

BALANCE SEATS 85%
B.Sc. (I.T.) : 50% of 85% of 60 seats Case D
B.Sc. (I.T.) : 42% of 85% of 60 seats Case D
I. Persons with Disability Category:
B.Sc. (I.T.) : 5% of 85% of 60 seats Case D
ii. Special Category**:
B.Sc. (I.T.): 3% of 85% of 60 seats Case D

Key:

  • Case A: Only for those the College is obliged to admit and without any quid pro quo.
  • Case D: Admitted on the basis of their Merit Rank which is based on performance at the Entrance Test and XII marks, as described in the College Handbook

Special Category refers to:

  • Wards of Transferred State / Central Govt. and Private Sector employees, employees of Defence Department / ex-servicemen
  • Wards of Freedom Fighters
  • Award Winners at the State / National Levels in Sports or Cultural Activities.

Note:

  • Fees are subject to revision, and any updates will be communicated accordingly.
  • In addition, a fee for Document Verification of Rs.1250/- is applicable to students from other than Maharashtra Board.
  • The fee for the First Year of the Batch of 2025–2028 shall be as specified above.
  • The fee amount for the Second and Third Years of the Batch of 2025–2028 shall remain the same as that paid in the First Year, corresponding to each student’s chosen subject combination.
  • The fee structure for the Fourth Year of the Batch of 2025–2028 will be determined and communicated at a later stage.

Fee Concession For Bc Students:

Under the Govt. of India Scholarship or Govt. of Maharashtra Freeship scheme for BC students (SC / ST / DT / NT / OBC), certain Scholarships / Freeships are provided to the students who have the certificate issued by the Maharashtra Government.

Annual Family Income (AFI) Eligibility conditions for Scholarship / Freeship:

  • SC students: AFI < Rs. 2 lakh p.a. (Scholarship)
  • SC students: AFI > Rs. 2 lakh p.a. (Freeship)
  • VJ / NT / SBC / OBC students refer:

G.R.Kr.EBC-2014/Pr.Kr.96 / Shikshan – dt 20/08/2016
NT / VJ / SBC / ST and OBC categories students will have to submit the Non-Creamy-Layer Certificate for such fee concessions.

Candidates with necessary documents who qualify for the aforementioned Scholarship / Freeship are required to pay, along with the Exam Fees, a nominal fee of Rs. 445/- (for FY & SY) and Rs. 795/- (for TY) at the time of admission. They are exempted from all other fees.
